Description

Prunus Celeste - Early Season

Description of Celeste Trees & Cherries:
If you want to grow a cherry tree in a big tub on your patio or if you only have room in the garden for one small cherry tree, Celeste is the one for you. It is naturally stunted and grows quite slowly, so it will probably never need any pruning. Best of all, it is reliably self fertile, so you only need one. It is an early cropper, giving you a decent yield of sinfully sweet, dark cherries in early July.

Characteristics of Celeste Trees:

  • Self fertile.
  • Pollination Group B
  • Crops in early July

Pollination Partners for Celeste Cherries:
Celeste will make fruit all by itself and doesn't need a pollination partner.

Rootstocks:
Our Celeste cherry trees are all grown on "Colt" rootstocks.
Maximum height 3 metres.

Growing Celeste Cherry Trees:

Rich soil is important - dig in plenty of good manure and compost before planting.
Soil drainage must be good.
The more sun your trees get the better your crops will be.
Cherry trees are targets for birds, so netting them is a good idea.
Only prune cherries in summer, after you've harvested your crop.

History & Parentage of Celeste:
Your trees were first bred in Canada, 1990.
