Very compact and free flowering, Dianthus Candy Floss is an award-winning pink. It really lives up to its name, looking just like candy floss from the fairground! However, its highly scented, fully double, sugar pink flowers have that wonderful clove scent, with purplish-red markings near the centre. The toothed petals become a darker pink as they get older. An RHS Award of Garden Merit winning member of range of Dianthus plants for sale.
Blooms are held on strong stems above attractive grey-green foliage from April to September.
Although pinks are a traditional cottage garden favourite, Candy Floss is suitable for many different styles of garden - as a path edge, trailing over the lips of containers and as weed-suppressant ground cover. They are the ideal plants for beginners, being pest resistant and drought tolerant when established and will tolerate partial shade.
The flowers are perfect for cutting and the scent will carry through a room - blooms can also be dried, too. They are loved by pollinators, so expect to see lots of bees and butterflies in your garden!
Candy Floss was bred under the name Devon Flavia, part of Whetman's Scent First Series.
