Garden Wonder Dahlias are a cause for a red alert! If you want a dose of pure, vibrant, proper "smack you in the eye" red in your garden then these should be perfect for you. This fabulous, decorative type dahlia really is a true, garden wonder! Fully double deep red/crimson flowers, between 10-15cm across, are held above compact plants with attractive green, divided foliage. Take a look at our full range of dahlias.
Despite the size of the plants and the large flowers, Garden Wonder has incredibly stout stems, so doesn't need as heavy staking as many other varieties do (although some support in windy areas will still be needed).
Garden Wonder was launched in 1973 and has been a favourite ever since. It is an incredibly versatile dahlia growing happily in pots and containers as well as borders and cutting beds. Wherever you grow it, Garden Wonder will brighten up your garden, but because of its size, you can also use it on terraces, patios, decking and balconies. Anywhere sunny.
Its vivid red colour will sit perfectly in a hot, exotic planting scheme, along with orange and yellow flowers and deep-coloured leaves.
A mainstay of late mixed border displays, plant alongside end-of-season bloomers like Echinacea and Rudbeckia for a great show.
Garden Wonder makes an excellent cut flower for arrangements and bouquets, while it is a popular choice for exhibiting at flower shows.
Did You Know...
To get the most from dahlias as cut flowers, cut them when they are three-quarters open, as they don't open any further. Plunge the blooms into a bucketful of water and leave them there for a few hours before arranging.
