Description
Zinnia Queen Lime Orange
If you want a regal presence, then Queen Lime Orange will certainly catch your eye! The 7.5cm flowers are mostly double or semi-double, with the occasional single bloom. The rosey centres are surrounded by lime green petals that fade through to peach and orange, all with smoky undertones, giving a highly unusual effect. Have a look at our full range of annuals.
The 75cm tall plants have a well-branched, upright habit, on long, strong stems. A new variety, it was awarded a 2019 Fleuroselect Gold Medal in recognition of its quality, reliability and beauty.
Great In Your Garden...
This plant loves sun and is happy in a pot, provided you keep it well watered, fed and deadheaded. They're ideal for the patio where they can be fully appreciated.
Being Mexican natives, Zinnias need their sun and do not tolerate cold. It's better to plant them out on the late side, rather than too early. If you live in one of the colder regions of the UK, they should be fine in a sheltered but sunny South facing spot, and will certainly do well in a poly-tunnel, cold greenhouse or conservatory.
The long stems make them splendid for cutting, with a vase life of 7-10 days if a flower preservative is used.
Before picking, gently shake the stem about 20cm below the flower. If the stem droops or bends, it is not ready. If the stem is stiff, it is ready to cut.
