Description

Viburnum plicatum Mariesii Hedging

Viburnum plicatum Mariesii, the Japanese Snowball bush, is a medium sized spreading deciduous shrub with a distinctive, layered branch structure producing tiers of white blossom in May. Depending on position, soil and weather these are sometimes followed by red fruit that ripen through the summer to a shiny black. Ultimate size can be as much as 4 metres tall and wide, but it is easy to keep to about half that size in smaller gardens.

It is more of a rough screening shrub than a hedge plant for clipping into a neat shape. Ideal for low maintenance backdrop to country scheme.
