Pax Gooseberry Bushes

Pax gooseberry plants produce large, red, round, relatively sweet dessert gooseberries on near-thornless branches.

Our Recommendation: In their day, they were the best of the red dessert gooseberries, but they have been surpassed in terms of crop size and disease resistance by Xenia and Hinnonmaki Red; if you only have space for a couple of red gooseberries, choose them first.
If you already have Xenia and Hinnonmaki Red, then it is still worth adding Pax, because it crops a little earlier.

All gooseberries need well-prepared, well drained, fertile soil to perform well. Full sun is beneficial up to May, i.e. about a month before harvest. After that, it doesn't matter if other plants cast shade over your gooseberries.

Browse our variety of gooseberry plants or see our full range of soft fruit bushes.

Pax was bred from Whinham's Industry and introduced in 1989.
