Break Out is a large decorative dahlia with light pink petals surrounding a warm yellow centre. At 20cm across, the flowers are firmly in dinnerplate territory, and the soft colour combination gives them a fresh, approachable look that works in both pastel and warm planting schemes.
At 120cm with a 75cm spread, it's a substantial plant that needs staking and a position towards the back of a sunny border. The stems are strong and the flowers are produced freely from July to the frosts.
The pink-and-yellow colour works alongside soft pastel schemes. Plant with Gerrie Hoek (shell pink waterlily, 120cm) for a pink scheme in two different flower forms. White Swan (white decorative, same height) keeps things cool alongside. For contrast, Dark Spirit (near-black, 90cm in front) anchors the scheme with depth.
Our dahlia tubers are Dutch first-class quality, imported direct and hand-graded. We reject undersized tubers so you get a clump with viable eyes, ready to grow. At 120cm with 20cm flowers, it's too big for a container. Grow it in deep border soil with proper staking. For a pink dahlia that suits pots, Daisy Duke (coral-pink, 90cm) is a better choice. Our pots guide covers the options.
Yes. At 120cm with dinnerplate flowers, it needs sturdy support from planting time. Full growing and aftercare advice in our dahlia growing guide.
Very. The 20cm flowers make a statement in a vase, and the light pink is versatile in arrangements. Cut only fully open blooms. The large heads drink a lot of water, so keep the vase topped up.
