French Cancan is a decorative dahlia that lives up to its theatrical name. The flowers are a lively two-tone of warm orange and pink, with the colours blending and shifting across the broad petals. At 12cm across on a 90cm plant, it brings warmth and energy to a border without being difficult to manage.
It flowers from July to the frosts, produces blooms freely, and the stems are good enough for cutting. At 90cm with a 60cm spread, it sits happily in the middle of a sunny border.
The orange-and-pink tones sit naturally in warm schemes. Plant alongside Sylvia (warm orange ball, brown stems, 80cm) and the heritage apricot of Preference (semi-cactus, 120cm behind). Helenium and Crocosmia are natural seasonal companions.

Almost certainly. The high-kicking dance associated with Parisian music halls, particularly the Moulin Rouge. The bright, theatrical colour scheme fits the name perfectly.
At 90cm it works in a large container. Feed fortnightly and water regularly. Our container guide covers the options.
The 12cm flowers cut well and the warm two-tone colour looks striking in autumn arrangements. Full growing advice in our dahlia growing guide.
