Sorbus Varieties in Standard Sizes
We are approaching the end of our season for bareroot standard trees and have a limited amount of stock left, so please go directly to our ornamental tree availability list to see what there is.
Rowan, Mountain ash, and Whitebeam are all members of the Sorbus family. They tend to be small to medium-sized, fast-growing trees that thrive in good, well-drained soil, and an open, sunny position. They range in height from 6-18 metres tall.
Almost all rowan trees carry creamy flowerheads in May/June that are followed by a range of striking leaf forms and colours, ranging from silver to dark green. These in turn yield to a lovely display of autumn colour which shows off berries ranging from white through yellow to orange and the deepest red. As a family, Sorbus are extremely useful as avenue trees, in smaller gardens and as lawn features and bird attractants.

Standard trees are measured by their girth 1 metre above the ground, and young saplings are measured by height. Therefore, a 6/8cm Standard Rowan tree is much bigger than an 60/80cm sapling Rowan tree. If a tree is available in both sizes, it will be noted in the product descriptions.
All our trees are covered by our no-quibble Guarantee, which means you can order with complete confidence. Free delivery on orders over £120. Best advice & friendly support throughout.
