Classic Caprese Salad

The best caprese salad uses the freshest ingredients

What better way to get the most fresh ingredients than growing them yourself (obviously not the mozzarella), but basil and tomatoes are a must!

Fresh ingredients: Basil & Tomatoes

Tomatoes ripened by warm sunny days make them so sweet. The flavours are better than any bought tomato in the supermarket. Grow your own tomatoes today and enjoy this salad in the summer months to come.

To make your caprese salad, slice up your buffalo mozzarella and tomatoes (small or big, as long they are ripe it does not matter) and arrange on a plate, alternating between the tomato and mozzarella. Sprinkle the fresh basil leaves over the top and add a good drizzle of olive oil. If you’re a fan of balsamic syrup, this also makes a great addition to the dish.

Serve with a cool glass of white wine, outside, watching the summer day pass you by – splendid!

Just a small point, but for future reference, it is of course a caprese salad, not a capresse. I’m afraid you had my mother-in-law from Naples wincing!
Otherwise we really look forward to your blog and recipes.
    Ciao ragazzi

Thank you for your comment. You are absolutely right (of course) and we have corrected our spelling. Thank you so much for pointing this out. Kind regards Ashridge.
