Farm Hedging Mix

This mixed hedge pack is a bundle of 50 Stock Proof plants, suitable for containing cattle and horses. You can order the same plants individually from their respective pages, but you will save money on the same size plants by buying the hedge pack.
We will choose the plants that go into the hedge mix from the following list and the pack may change between the time of ordering and the time of despatch.: we regret that we cannot accept requests for specific plants to be used in your pack. If you want to be certain of having a particular plant in your hedge mix, please order it separately.

Stock Friendly hedging mix is free from plants with long thorns, like blackthorn, that could scratch an animal's eye. The plants are all safe for farm animals to graze on, but overall the hedge will still be too thorny for most animals to eat. Like all newly planted hedging, it will need to protect it from the animals for the first few years.
If you are looking for our cheapest country hedging, have a look at our bundles of 250 small whips

PLEASE NOTE: You will recall last summer was one of the hottest and driest for many years. One of the casualties of this weather was hawthorn growth and crops struggled to make the larger grades. So please note that although we show a size 60/80 cms, some plants may well be smaller than this. This will have no effect on future growth or hedge size as newly planted hawthorn (as with all native hedging) should be cut back by half immediately after planting anyway. The plants are strong and healthy and covered by our guarantee.

Stock Proof hedge packs are only delivered bareroot, during winter (November - March).
All our hedge plants are measured by their height in centimetres above the ground (the roots aren't measured).

See our selection of discounted hedging packs or view our full range of hedging plants.

Please note: when you receive our mixed hedging packs, they will not be already mixed and will be bunched by plant species. Please remember to mix them for best results.

Spacing a Stock Proof hedge:

Plant Stock Proof hedging at 3 plants per metre, 33cms apart.
You can also plant Stock Proof at 5 plants per metre in a staggered double row, with 33 cms between each plant along the row and 40cms between the rows. A double row is extra secure and should stop a bull or stallion from barging through.

Each pack of 50 plants will make 16.5 metres of single row hedge and 10 metres of double row hedge.
