Description

Prunus Bigarreau Napoleon - Mid Season

Description of Bigarreau Napoleon Trees & Fruit:
Bigarreau Napoleon cherries are known as Naps to their fans. These very big, firm cherries have a pale gold colour peeking out from a pretty, marbled red flush that develops where the fruit faces the sun.
The flavour is sweet and full-bodied, but less sugary than darker sweet cherries.
They are considered to be white cherries, which refers to their pale flesh, not their skin.

Features:

  • Self-sterile.
  • Pollination Group D.
  • Large fruit.
  • Firm texture. Not super sweet, with a rich, fruity flavour.
  • Crops late July to Early August.
  • RHS Plants for Pollinators

Growing Bigarreau Napoleon Cherry Trees:
Rich soil is important - dig in plenty of good manure and compost before planting. Soil drainage must be good. The more sun your trees get the better your crops will be.
Cherry Trees are targets for birds, so netting them is a very good idea.
Only prune cherry trees in Summer.

Pollination Partners for Bigarreau Napoleon:
Your trees must be pollinated to make fruit.
Merton Bigarreau, Stella and Sunburst are all good pollination partners.
Note that Bigarreau Napoleon is not a good pollinator for other cherry trees.
