Description

Prunus Merton Glory - Early Season

Description of Merton Glory Trees & Cherries:

Merton Glory is called a "white" cherry, but really its skin is golden with red highlights and the flesh is pale yellow.
They are large, heart-shaped and very tasty.
They bruise easily when fully ripe, so they don't store well & aren't grown commercially.

Merton Glory cherry trees are quite compact and upright, ideal for smaller gardens.

Browse our range of cherry trees or see the full variety of fruit trees.

Characteristics of Merton Glory Trees:

  • Self Sterile.
  • Pollination Group B.
  • Resistant to Canker.
  • Crop in Late June.

Pollination Partners for Merton Glory Cherries:
Your trees must be pollinated to make fruit.
Early Rivers, Knight's Early Black, Amber Heart, Merton Bigarreau and Van are all good pollination partners.

Rootstocks:
Our Merton Glory cherry trees are all grown on "Colt" rootstocks.
Maximum height 4 metres.

Growing Merton Glory Cherry Trees:
Rich soil is important - dig in plenty of good manure and compost before planting.
Soil drainage must be good.
The more sun your trees get the better your crops will be.
Cherry trees are targets for birds, so netting them is a good idea.
Only prune cherry trees in Summer.
