Description

Abies procera Hedging

Delivered by Mail Order Direct from our Nursery with a Year Guarantee

Noble Fir trees, Abies procera, are well named. It is almost certainly the largest member of the Abies family in terms of height and weight and girth. It was identified by David Douglas (best known for identifying the Douglas Fir) in the USA. It is what is called "windfirm" and loves exposed sites where it looks magnificent swaying in even the fiercest gales. In the UK it can be used as a screening tree up to about 60 metres high and it works well in windbreaks. As a smaller specimen it makes an excellent Christmas Tree.

Noble Fir saplings are only delivered bareroot, during winter (Nov-Apr) and are best planted towards the end of the season. All of our young trees and shrubs are measured by their height in centimetres above the ground when planted.
