Description

Heuchera 'Forever Purple'. 2-Litre Pot-Grown Plants

This could invite one to purple prose: indeed it is almost perfection where the colour is concerned - textured, veined, dark yet vivid leaves that keep their colour throughout winter. Wonderful mounds of foliage that sprout purple-pink flowers through the summer on short purple stems.

Growing 'Forever Purple' Heuchera

These undemanding plants need a well-drained soil, ideally on the sandy/gritty side, with neutral to mildly acidic pH.
They like some dappled shade at midday: given shelter and moist soil, full sun by itself will do little damage to the foliage, but a combination of full sun, wind and dry soil tends to scorch it.

In mild conditions, heuchera keeps its leaves through winter. Tidy tired-looking leaves each spring.

In Your Garden Design

Another fabulous heuchera to contrast with lime greens such as golden Japanese grass or hostas. As the name suggests, it lasts well into the colder months, often all year. Just the thing for containers and also to go with other heuchera, such as 'Lime Marmalade'.

Did You Know?

This is a relatively recent addition to the heuchera family, the common names for which are alumroot and coral bells.

Cultivation Instructions

Dig in garden compost or leaf mould when planting, in semi-shade. Space 30-40cm apart and water in well. Keep watered until established. Cut down spent stems after flowering. Divide congested clumps in spring and mulch around the crown with organic matter.
