Achillea Cerise Queen

If you're after maximum colour impact in your borders, look no further than Achillea Cerise Queen. Deep magenta flowers with pale centres are held in clusters above the dissected ferny foliage and these are favourites with pollinating insects, making this hardy perennial an ideal addition to wildlife borders. And if hot pink isn't ideal for your border colour combinations, why not take a look at the other Achilleas we have for sale?

The sturdy stems, flamboyant flower-heads and soft foliage mean Cerise Queen alsoworks well as a cut flower, bringing a splash of summer sunshine indoors.

Great in your garden

Cerise Queen combines perfectly with grasses such as Mexican feather grass (Stipa tenuissima) and tufted hair grass (Deschampsia cespitosa) through which its flattened flower-heads emerge, contrasting the vibrant colours against the soft greens and browns of the grass. The vivid flower-heads also create impact alongside other tall cottage garden favourites like Verbascum, Kniphofia and Russian sage. Achillea Cerise Queen is well-suited to prairie-style planting too, flowering alongside late perennials such as Echinacea, Rudbeckia and Asters.

Medicinal properties

Named after Achilles who supposedly first used the plant for medicinal purposes, the wild achillea millefolium or yarrow was traditionally used to staunch bleeding. Other traditional names also point towards these historical uses, such as herbal militaris, nosebleed plant and soldier's woundwort.
