Description

Aster alpinus 'Trimix', Dwarf Alpine Daisy Mix

These tough little alpine daisies are nothing special for most of the year, only a humble tuft of simple green deciduous foliage, but then around May and June they go wild with colour, spraying out two-inch wide flowers in varied shades of pink, blue, purple and white with their signature long, narrow petals.

Growing Aster alpinus

These hardy plants must have plenty of sun, ideally all day, and well drained soil.
They don't like shallow chalk, but in most gardens this isn't an issue as they only need a little topsoil over the chalk to get by.

Did You Know?

Native to several European mountain ranges including the Alps, as well as parts of Turkey and Iran, it was classified by Carl Linnaeus himself in 1753.

Cultivation Instructions

Plant in well-drained, or moist but well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. Water well until established.

Cut back faded flower stems in autumn. Wear gloves and take care as the sap is poisonous and a skin and eye irritant. This low maintenance plant is generally pest and disease-free. Divide clumps, and/or remove runners in early spring.
