Description
Cistus × pulverulentus 'Sunset' Rock Rose, 2 Litre Pot Grown Plants
A bushy evergreen shrub, quite low and spreading when mature, whose bright pink, poppy-like flowers bloom profusely in June and July, each flower coming and going in within 24 hours. When you rub the wavy leaves between your fingers, they give off a pleasant resinous aroma.

Growing Sunset Rock Roses
These hard scrabble plants only need good drainage from their soil, so they are happy in rockeries and pots with quite poor fertility. Above ground, they want full sun, and although they can be grown as a coastal windbreak, a decent amount of shelter from wind will leave them looking much more attractive.
After your plant is established, it will only need a little water in a drought - too much water tends to make it grow a lot, at the expense of a long lifespan.
Its hardiness rating of H4 is tough enough for most of the UK, but not recommended for the coldest parts of inland Scotland.
In Your Garden Design
Ideal for ground cover in a rock garden or a Mediterranean themed design; the magenta flowers with a prominent yellow centre would light up any corner of a garden. Good companion plants include Scabiosa blue note, Salvia Rose Marvel, and 'Melissa Lilac' Lavender. Would look fantastic running alongside a stone pathway.
Did You Know?
Due to their hardiness, they embody endurance, determination and strength - the perfect gift for a marathon runner and other athletes.
