Malus domestica Rosette - Early Season

Description of Rosette Trees & Fruit:
If you are looking for a uniquely decorative apple, the crisp, early cropping, red Rosette is a must. The light, sweet flavour, with a hint of summer berries is enough to recommend it, but it's the colourful inside that is really special. When you cut one in half, you will see a starburst of clean white and vibrant pink flesh, radiating in fairly regular patterns from the seeds in the centre. Whether you serve it as a simple dessert apple or chopped into a salad, it is sure to win some compliments!

Browse our full range of apple trees or see the full variety of fruit trees for sale.

Characteristics of Rosette Trees:

  • Eating.
  • Partially Self Fertile.
  • Pollination Group B
  • Spur Bearer: suitable for cordons & training on wires.
  • Harvest: August
  • Store & ripen in a cool, dry place: Less than 4 weeks.

Pollination Partners for Rosette:

Rosette is partially self fertile and its flowers must be pollinated to make good crops.
Your trees are in pollination Group B.
This means that they will cross-pollinate with other apple trees in pollination Groups A, B and C.

See our Guide to Apple Tree Pollination for a full list of partners & more tips about pollination (it's really simple, we promise!).

Apple Tree Rootstocks:
Rosette Maidens & Standards are grown on "MM106" rootstocks. These are suitable for espaliers and free standing trees.
Our Rosette Cordons are grown on dwarfing "M9" rootstocks.
Our Rosette Bush shaped apple trees are grown on "MM106" rootstocks. These are free standing trees with short trunks. Their final height is about 3 metres.

Growing Rosette Apple Trees:
Rich soil is important - dig in plenty of good manure and compost before planting.
Soil drainage must be good, although apple trees do like clay soil.
The more sun your trees get, the better your crops will be.

History & Parentage of Rosette:
Rosette is a sport (a natural mutation) of Discovery.
