Berberis Hedging

Varieties of Berberis Hedging

Berberis are mainly small-to-medium sized shrubs that make great thorny hedges as well as being fine specimen plants. Also known as Barberry, they are suitable for any well-drained soil and many of them tolerate shade. As a general rule, berberis grows to 2-3 metres tall but all of them are very happy being clipped to shape and having their height restricted to as little as 80cms (just over 2ft tall). They are a versatile family and are especially effective in hedges which are (in part at least) intended to keep intruders out. As such, they form a valuable part of our range of hedging.
