Growing Crispa Cristata Ferns

This flexible and hardy fern is not fussy about soil quality or shade, it only needs moisture and good drainage to thrive. They look great in pots.

Well-established plants are quite tolerant of dry conditions, but cool and moist is what they prefer.

In Your Garden Design

Ferns are an enormously versatile and often underrated element of garden design. Pair this feathery creature with agapanthus, box, and a lofty grass such as Mexican Feather and you are in for a winning combination. Alternatively, create a woodland effect by planting the ferns under trees together with hostas and comfrey. If you have empty and shady areas in your garden, these should be your IKEA moment in that they can provide an instant stop gap which makes them an excellent choice for shady urban gardens. Other striking and well-matched companion plants include Tellima Grandiflora and Dicenta Cucullaria
