Growing 'Buzz Magenta' Buddleja Bushes

Buddleja thrive beautifully in any sunny position in moist and well-drained soil. They will grow equally well in shadier locations but will produce fewer flowers. They benefit from being cut back hard in early spring during the first half of March, and prompt deadheading prolongs their season. Their roots are robust, but if they are planted in a pot they will a bit of winter protection in severe frosts.

In Your Garden Design

Since this was specifically designed as one of "the world's first patio plants" it is almost a must for a patio container. But it thrives at its best in borders. Planted next to Artemisia ludoviciana ‘Valerie Finnis’ for a painterly colour combination. Also pair with Echinacea and Agastache (Hyssop). These would also make great companion plants for our herbaceous perennial collections: try with our Moody Blues or Pretty Pinks.
