Rosa Gardener's Glory

Gardener's Glory is a beautiful, heavenly scented modern climbing rose covered with beautiful yellow flowers all summer - right up to the first frosts of winter - but it will need deadheading to promote continuous blooming. The flowers, which are neat and abundant, are held in small groups on each stem . It is vigorous and upright but very easily trained and the foliage is extremely disease resistant and of a good fresh green with gentle red tints.

Great in your garden

Gardener's Glory is a stunning buttercup yellow climber reaching a final height of 12ft and easily trained horizontally thus making it perfect for weaving through a trellis, over a pergola or rose arch and in any position where the highly scented flowers can best be appreciated. It is an extremely manageable rose which associates well with other small climbers, particularly roses with white or apricot flowers, and when used with less continuous flowerers it will extend the season - sometimes right up to Christmas.

Gardener's Glory was bred by Chris Warner in 2005. Warner was originally an amateur grower determined to breed roses without a susceptibility to Black Spot. He began by crossing a species rose, Rosa sinowilsonii, with Marjorie Fair and the results were exceptionally disease resistant. In 1984, he won a competition run by the British Postal Service with a rose called Pillarbox and followed this in 1988 with Warm Welcome winning The President's International Trophy. In the 90s he started working with the famous grower Jack Harkness and, in 2005, produced Gardener's Glory, a cross between Baby Love, Gingernut and Rosa Bella. This rose won him the very prestigious Gold Standard Award in 2006. He is most famous for miniature or patio climbers and will, no doubt, win other awards with his lovely roses.
